Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya – The Department of Science and Technology, Provincial Science and Technology Center conducted a two day seminar on book keeping, 5S, intellectual property registration and marketing to selected 35 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at Dumlao Farmers Training Center, Nueva Vizcaya State University, May 9-10 2013.

Dr. Urdujah A. Tejada, DOST Regional Director, stressed that in order for MSMEs to be productive, they should be equipped with both modern technologies and trainings on proper business management which can be obtained through seminars on book keeping, 5S, intellectual property rights and product marketing.

Tejada added that the seminar is a part of the package of Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) extended by DOST to MSMEs through its Innovation Support System.

Assistant Regional Director for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang delivered a talk on marketing. Engr. Mabborang, being an experienced businessman, emphasized in his lecture the significance of marketing skills in the business world.

Mrs. Marilou Tolentino, MAGT industries manager and a participant in the seminar, expressed her gratefulness because she was able to be informed of the various marketing strategies which she finds to be helpful and applicable to her business.

The other lecturers were Ms. Mary Ann Maglasin, DOST ARD for Finance and Administrative Support Services, PSTC Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Director Virginia G. Bilgera and Science Research Specialist Jessamyn B. Jadulos who lectured on Book keeping, 5S and Intellectual Property Rights respectively.
