The Department of Science and Technology R02, represented by Engr. Jonathan R. Nuestro, Provincial Director, awarded 100K pesos to Yangiran Farmers Association through the Local Government Unit of Baliling, Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya represented by the Barangay Captain, Hon. Victor A. Aganon on May  3, 2017.  The awarding of the cheque was held at one of the association-beneficiary member’s residence in Baliling.

“Ito po ay tulong ng gobyerno” said by Engr. Nuestro during the awarding. He reiterated that the amount given to them comes from the government and must be used for its intended purpose.

“Double it and use it for the improvement of the association but not for personal pleasures” he stressed.

He added that the DOST will always be willing to help them in terms of trainings they  would need.

During the program, the Memorandum of Agreement was also discussed by Engr. Ronnie Jay Bullawit.  He reiterated that they must liquidate it after six months of implementation of the project.  Also, he informed them that every quarter the office will be visiting them to conduct a meeting to ensure  proper implementation and help them for  other needs.

In response, Mr. Apolinario S. Sansano Sr., President of the association, gave thanks to the DOST and promised to double the amount for the next few years to come. He encouraged his co-members to be responsible and thought of how they would manage it wisely.

The event was graced by the Municipal Community Organizers of Sta.Fe, Mr. Nestor M. Batara, who in his short talk during the program encouraged the beneficiaries to account every transaction they will be making use of the financial assistance.  Also, reminded them to follow the Memorandum of Agreement signed by both parties.

On June 5, 2017, 26 members of this association participated in the training on business management with framework of the criteria of the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) conducted by PSTC Nueva Vizcaya. Engr. Nuestro who served as assessor for the three cycles of the PQA discussed the salient  points of categories on business management: leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, workforce focus, measurement analysis and knowledge management, operations focus and result focus. Aside from the business management training, portable  biogas technology and DOST programs and services seminar were included.

The president of the association expressed his gratitude to the assistance provided to them by the government. Considering their lack of experience on handling business PSTC NV expressed other assistance for capability building like strategic planning, productivity management and continuous support for their business growth.

The  training was also attended by the Barangay Officials of Baliling and the PESO Officers of the Municipality of Sta. Fe. They were grateful and signified their attendance to further trainings that the office will be conducting.
