PSTC Nueva Vizcaya in coordination with PSTC Quirino and Barangay LGU of Baresbes Quezon conducted a training on soap making to selected household participants from Barangay Baresbes, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya on February 9, 2017.   This was participated by 16 individuals.

This trainings was an offshoot  of the assistance of DOST02 for the establishment of essential of extractor wherein the Barangay Local Government Unit Baresbes, Quezon have already produced 43 liters of citronella oil.  Also, as a beneficiary of the Community for Empowerment of Science and Technology (CEST) program, this LGU received financial assistance for livelihood of women’s group on herbal soap production.

The training was conceived to teach or train the participants how to formulate the raw materials locally available in the market and often seen  in their backyards.

In the said training, Mr. Lucio Calimag, Provincial Director of PSTC Quirino demonstrated how to formulate and make herbal soap.  Added technologies in the training are actual formulation of  powdered detergent and fabric conditioner and dish washing soap.  The participants were given the opportunity to perform a return demonstration with the supervision of the trainor.

One of the objective of this training is to empower the community considering that every household use soap for cleaning, disinfecting and bathing.  Making soap at home is a satisfying, inexpensive way to provide for family’s needs or create livelihood.
