April 7, 2019. The Training on Gender Sensitivity, Women Economic Empowerment and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) for Women Micro Entrepreneurs (WMEs) in Region 2 kicked off today at PLT Wellness and Mountain Resort in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.
Recognizing the relevant contribution of women in the economic development of the nation particularly in the food industry, Engr. Jonathan R. Nuestro, Provincial Director of Nueva Vizcaya representing DOST 02 Director Sancho A. Mabborang, said that it is crucial for them to be empowered on Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures or SSOP to be able to produce a quality and safer food products.
Mr. Porfirio O. Bajo, WEE Project Area Coordinator for Region 02 from the Philippine Commission on Women, expressed his excitement on the transformation of the businesses of the women-led firms in the Region as led by the convergence agencies – DOST, DTI and DA.
Meanwhile, Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operation Services of DOST R02 & DOST 02-PCW WEE Project Focal Person asserted the importance of women in attaining the country’s economic development.
Further, in her lecture, she explained that women economic empowerment is the 5th component on gender sensitivity where the DOST’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading (SETUP) perfectly fits as an enrolled program of DOST for the WEE. “Having an empowered woman in the family, it is for sure the family will be sustained”, she quoted in her opening message.
